Running Club

Running Club prepares children for the Physical Fitness Test that is a part of The President's Challenge.  This is also a fun time to get the children outside to take advantage of the great weather while keeping physically active.

Running Club also helps the children prepare for running their laps around our grassy field, the west playground.

Run for the Zoo:

We'll be forming the running club in the fall.  The culminating activity will be the Albuquerque Biopark's Run for the Zoo event on Sunday, May 6th.  SY Jackson will have individual medals for the top finishers in the Rabbit and Cheetah categories.

PE At S.Y. Jackson

Physical education is the instructional program that provides the opportunity for all students to learn and develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for life-long fitness.

It meets the NM content standards with benchmarks and performance standards.

Physical activity is body movement of any type which includes recreational, fitness and sport activities.

It includes before and after-school programs, intramurals, physical activity clubs, walk and bike to school programs, and integrating movement into the school day.

Did you know that physically active kids are better learners?
Studies show that physically active children are more likely to perform better on standardized tests.

We are proud to be a Let's Move Active School member!

Student Council

(2) Student Council representatives with (1) alternative are nominated and voted on by classmates from each class in grades 4th and 5th.

Student Council uses the money we raise over the year to purchase items for the school and to support local charities.
